Wider, faster, stronger principles we apply to our carbon design.
This rim was created by our team. We carefully considered all aspects of modern rim usage in the design phase and here are the results.
- The inner width of 24 mm boosts air volume and ride control by creating a more optimal tire profile.
- Minimum of 28mm tyres by pushing the internal width we have excluded the use of 23 and 25mm tyres. For example a 28mm 2020 Schwalbe Pro one tyre measures a width of 29.7mm
- 46mm depth with the extra width we wanted a rim that was aerodynamic and stable after extensive testing we settled on 46mm
- 24h has proved very strong although we will release a 28h version soon for people who wish to use dynamo hubs.
Our Picco rims are optimized specifically for tubeless tires. You can run tubes if needed but always run approved tubeless tires. The hookless construction of our Picco rim is not compatible with non-tubeless tires.
NOTE: The Picco rim is designed for use with tubeless specific tires only We recommend the new Schwalbe Pro One tyres are the best we have tested and you can add them to your order with these rims.
700 x 28 max pressure 85psi (5.8bar)
700 x 30 max pressure 70psi (4.8bar)
We recommend you allow a sliding scale for tire pressures. As a general rule, the wider the tire is (more air volume) the less air pressure you’ll need to achieve a fast but compliant ride. Experiment with tire size and air pressures to work out the best combination of volume and pressure for your intended terrain and overall riding style. Air pressure recommendations from the tire manufacturers are a good starting point but should not exceed 90psi for this rim.
The Picco features a hookless, tubeless-ready rim bed. As such, tires will require a firm grip to install but will go on by hand with the proper technique. Once installed, the bead should be snug on the rim. If you feel the tire is ‘too loose ‘do not use it and find another type or brand to obtain the proper interface between tire and rim for a safe fit and reliable seal.
